Magic Potion Isopods are a fantastically striking morph of the common Armadillidium vulgare. Also known as roly polys due to their tendency to roll up into a ball when disturbed or threatened. These are the Japanese line of Magic Potions and exhibit a nearly transparent body with swirls and splotches of neon yellow, dotted with black specks. Magic Potions are one of our staff picks for favorite isopods.
Like their common cousins, Magic potions are excellent additions to heavily planted tanks with woody, herbaceous plants and those with large amounts of cork hides or wood substrate. These helpful cleaner isopods consume decaying wood and leftover vegetables. They are a very hardy species that can tolerate high and low temperatures. They are known to burrow, so providing a few inches of substrate for them is ideal.
